Registered Nurse Position.

 

Position Summary. Primary purpose of the job position is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, and , and to supervise the day to day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing or designee to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

 

Essential Functions: (a) Maintain the Sierra Health Care; (b) Effectively work as a member of the Sierra Health Care team through open communications with other employees, staff, residents, visitors, and volunteers; (c) Make team rounds on a regular basis to observe and evaluate resident’s physical and emotional needs. Reports to Director of Nursing; (d) Communicates tactfully with the public, staff, visitors and residents; (e) Provides direct resident care as needed; (f) Gives and receives report at change of shift as delegated by DON; (g) Assists unit manager, supervisor, or charge nurse with assessment and documentation on new admissions; (h) Answers call lights promptly and responds to residents needs; (i) Observes, evaluates, and reports residents’ symptoms, change in condition, or incidents to charge nurse and/or physician/responsible party as assigned. Documents as required; (j) Informing supervisor of residents’ medical needs for follow-up by phone or during physician rounds; (k) Encourages and assists staff to perform restorative nursing programs daily; (l) Keeps DON informed of resident status; (m) Work cooperatively with all departments within the facility; (n) Participate in staff meetings, in-services and other facility activities as assigned; (o) Maintains a safe environment for staff, residents and visitors; (p) Keeps appraised of the developments in nursing practice; (q) Follows universal precautions; ® Collects specimens, take vital signs and documents on the medical record; (s) Assures good resident care-bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, hair care, nail care, oral hygiene---through supervision and deliverance as needed; (t) Monitors IVs and reports status or difficulties to charge nurse or supervisor; (u) Administers medications and treatments to assigned residents; and (v) performs other duties as assigned within the role and scope of practice of the licensed registered nurse.

 

Minimum Requirements. Eligibility for licensure as RN in New Mexico.  Base salary a minimum of $59,925.00 per year based on experience and primary work shift.

 

Minimum Education.  BSN or higher.
